Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

Ingredients
- 1 lb penne pasta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic for 1 minute.

Add crushed tomatoes, salt, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Stir in heavy cream and half the basil. Cook for 2 more minutes.

Toss in the drained pasta. Add pasta water a splash at a time until the sauce coats the noodles.

Serve topped with parmesan and remaining basil.
