Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.

Beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

Gradually mix in the flour mixture on low speed. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Drop rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers look slightly underdone.
